Fishing Charters

We are proud to offer offshore and nearshore fishing charters aboard the Laura Linn, a 38′ custom sportfishing boat.

The Laura Linn fishes out of Ocracoke Island year round, and can accommodate up to 6 people per trip. If you have larger groups please let us know, we are always happy to work with other operators in the area to design the charter of your dreams.

Great catch of wahoo and dolphin on on Offshore Fishing Charter

Whether you are an experienced fisherman looking for a hardcore offshore trip, or are looking to experience offshore fishing for the first time, we can help. We pride ourselves in going the extra mile for our customers (some days quite literally!), and custom tailoring each charter to reflect your wishes. Before you arrive for your trip you will speak with Captain Rob in detail about what to expect. He will discuss the various options, listen to what you have in mind, and then design your day accordingly. This should not be a one size fits all experience!

If you are not sure which Ocracoke fishing charter is right for your group, please give Captain Rob a call. He is always happy to discuss the different trip options and current fishing conditions with you.

Offshore Gulf Stream Charters:

Tuna Time! Summertime blackfin tuna fishing in Ocracoke

MOST POPULAR CHARTER TRIP! This is what Ocracoke is known for. We specialize in offshore gulf stream fishing charters out of Ocracoke. NC’s Outer Banks are known worldwide as an offshore fishing destination for yellowfin tuna, dolphin, wahoo, blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. As one of the closest inlets to the Gulf Stream, Ocracoke offers easy access to this world class fishery. Below is additional information on our offshore charter trips:

  • What does a typical day look like? On our gulf stream offshore charters we typically leave the dock early morning. The run to the fishing grounds is normally around an hour, so we are fishing shortly after the sun cracks the horizon. Most days start out trolling natural and artificial baits for species such and dolphin, wahoo, and tuna. Depending on the bite and your groups preferences, we may adjust to target billfish, or try bottom fishing for grouper, snapper, triggerfish, and more. We normally fish until late afternoon (varies depending on the day and your preferences).
  • What fish species will we target during the day? On a typical day of offshore fishing we will target wahoo, tuna, dolphin (mahi mahi), blue marlin, white marlin, and sailfish. If we drop down to do some bottom fishing, target species will be grouper, snapper, triggerfish, and tilefish. Because this is a full day trip, we can do ANYTHING you want. Some groups prefer constant action, some want to fill the freezer, others want to spend the day chasing a giant 500+lb marlin!

    500 lb NC Swordfish

Daytime Swordfish Charters

If you you want to catch one of the most unique and incredible species in the ocean, then we highly recommend a NC swordfish charters. Swordfish are off the coast of NC year round, and range from 50-800 lbs. Swordfish come to the surface at night to feed, and then return to the bottom during the day in 1200-2000′ of water.

Swordfish are one of the most prized of the billfish species because of their tenacious fishing characteristics, and their reputation and an excellent table fair.

This is a relatively new fishery in NC, but Ocracoke is the closest inlet to both the northern and southern swordfish grounds.

60 lb Daytime Swordfish
